The "Quick" in QuickBooks

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

We all have favorite actors and celebrities. I am a big Mark Wahlberg fan, when I watched “Me Time” on Netflix, one of his lines in the movie will go down as my all-time favorite. Any idea what it was? If you haven’t seen the movie yet I won’t spoil anything but Wahlberg’s character “Huck” says:

“I tried to Start My Own Firm, but I Couldn’t Even Get Past QuickBooks.”

I almost spit my popcorn out. It felt so relatable, I have worked with so many business owners whose financials are a mess. They are frustrated with QuickBooks. This is absolutely no fault of the business owner; the word Quick in QuickBooks is a bit deceiving. It can be easy to make a coding, transfer, or reconciliation error which can compromise the integrity of your financials. These inaccuracies can result in underpaying or overpaying taxes.

Now I hear what you are thinking, but your firm specializes in QuickBooks Online and you sound like you are knocking the program? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE QuickBooks Online! But my firm has extensive accounting, bookkeeping and QuickBooks Online training and knowledge to be able to use the program correctly.

Now I also recognize, many small business owners or solopreneurs are not in a place to outsource 100% of their bookkeeping but have a "Quick" (pun-intended),

QuickBooks or bookkeeping question now and again. I asked myself, "how can we serve these business owners regularly to help solve their problems?"

And I figured it out.
